What Does It Mean to Be a GRANGER?

At The Grange School, you will often hear students and staff talk about being a GRANGER.

Being a GRANGER is about more than attending our school. It is about belonging to a community that aims high, acts with character and supports one another to succeed.

The term GRANGER has become an important part of who we are. It reflects the standards we set for ourselves, the way we treat others and the contribution we make to our school and wider community.

Our GRANGE virtues provide a shared identity that unites us. They help shape the culture of our school and remind us of the kind of people we aspire to be.

More Than Success

At The Grange School, we want every student to achieve their very best. Academic success is important, but it is only part of the story.

We also want our students to leave us as confident, compassionate and responsible young people who are ready to make a positive difference in the world around them.

Being a GRANGER means developing the character to overcome challenges, the confidence to seize opportunities and the integrity to do what is right, even when it is difficult.

Character in Action

Being a GRANGER is not about being perfect.

We all face setbacks. We all make mistakes. We all encounter challenges.

What matters is how we respond.

Every day, our students have opportunities to demonstrate what it means to be a GRANGER through the choices they make, the way they treat others and the contributions they make to school life.

You can see this when students:

  • Welcome others and help them feel they belong.
  • Show determination when faced with challenge.
  • Take pride in their work and their achievements.
  • Support friends, teammates and classmates.
  • Take on responsibility and lead by example.
  • Represent The Grange School with integrity and respect.

These everyday actions help to build a strong, inclusive and ambitious school community.

A Shared Identity for Life

Being a GRANGER is something that stays with our students long after they leave The Grange School.

The character, habits and values developed during their time here help prepare them for future study, employment, relationships and active citizenship.

Our aim is that every student leaves The Grange School not only with excellent qualifications, but with the confidence, character and sense of purpose to thrive in whatever path they choose.

We Are GRANGERS.

We Aim High and Act with Character.

Guided by Gratitude, Resilience, Ambition, Neighbourliness, Generosity and Empathy.
